Louis H. Bangert Memorial Wildlife Area (Bangert Island) – Hiking & Biking Trail

Bangert Island is located at 1600 Old South River Road, Saint Charles, Missouri, 63303 – just south (upstream) of the Blanchette Bridge where I-70 crosses the Missouri River. It is a 160-acre island owned by the Missouri Department of Conservation and managed by St. Charles County Parks. There are 4.2 miles of single-track trail. The land is basically level so it makes for easy hiking or off-road biking.

Before visiting Bangert Island, be sure to check the Missouri River level which must be below 23 feet in order that the island be accessible by land. The are several river view areas that look across to the casino on the opposite side of the river. Note that in summer there can be many mosquitoes so if your visit is during bug season, come prepared.
